It was lunchtime at home, and the delicious smell of fried rice and sweet bananas filled the air. Diem sat happily on her little mat with a full plate in front of her, humming a tune while getting ready to eat.
Just a few steps away, Monkey Kaka and Monkey Mit sat side by side—quiet, still, and wide-eyed.
Their tiny hands rested on their knees, their tails swaying slowly behind them, and their eyes locked onto Diem’s plate like two little statues carved from pure focus.
Diem looked over and giggled. “Are you two waiting for something?”
Kaka gave a little squeak and tilted her head, as if to say, “Maybe just a little bite?”
Mit blinked and smiled sweetly, scooting an inch closer.
Diem pretended to ignore them for a moment, teasing, “Hmm… this food is really yummy. I might eat it all myself.”
Kaka gently tapped Mit’s hand, as if planning a strategy. The two monkeys then put on their best cute faces—round eyes, innocent smiles, and soft little chirps.
Finally, Diem gave in with a laugh. “Okay, okay! You win!”
She carefully broke a banana in half and handed each monkey a piece. Their faces lit up instantly. Kaka clapped her hands, and Mit gave Diem a thankful hug before munching away.
As the three of them sat together, happily sharing the meal, Diem smiled and said, “Food always tastes better when we share.”
Kaka and Mit nodded in agreement, already licking their fingers.
Because in their little family, kindness and cuteness always come before the last bite.
