lala was confused and scared when she first saw the toad!

It was a quiet afternoon in the garden. Little Lala was playing with her flower sticks and singing to herself as the wind tickled her ears.

Suddenly—plop! Something jumped out from under a bush.

Lala froze. Her eyes grew wide.
It was… green.
It was… bumpy.
It was… alive!

The creature blinked its big round eyes and let out a loud, croaky “RIBBIT!”

“EEEEK!” Lala squealed, hopping backward so fast she tripped over her own tail and landed in the grass with a thud.

She peeked again from behind a flower pot. “What is that thing?!”

The toad sat there calmly, not moving an inch—just blinking and puffing out his belly.

“Is it going to chase me?” Lala whispered to herself. “Or jump on my head?!”

Hearing her squeals, Mom came over and saw Lala crouched behind a bush, staring at the toad like it was a tiny monster.

Mom laughed gently. “Oh Lala, that’s just a toad! He won’t hurt you.”

“But he’s weird, Mom! His eyes are huge!

Mom sat beside her. “He’s just a garden friend. He eats bugs and sings when it rains.”

Lala watched carefully as the toad hopped a little closer. It didn’t try to scare her or jump—just blinked again, quietly minding its own business.

Slowly, Lala stepped out from her hiding spot. “Okay… maybe he’s not that scary.”

Mom smiled. “See? Sometimes things that look strange at first… are just new friends waiting to be known.”

Lala gave one last look at the toad and giggled. “Hi, froggy friend. Don’t jump on me, okay?”

The toad croaked again — a friendly little “RIBBIT” — and Lala felt just a little bit braver.
