It was a quiet afternoon at the farm. Lala was sitting by the window, playing with her stuffed banana toy, but her eyes kept drifting toward the gate.
She sighed. “I miss Mom…”
Just then—clip-clop, clip-clop! Footsteps echoed down the path.
Lala’s ears perked up. She stood on her tiptoes and peeked outside.
There she was—Mom! With her warm smile and gentle eyes, carrying a little basket full of goodies.
“Moooom!” Lala squealed with joy, racing down the path and jumping straight into her arms.
Mom laughed and spun her around. “There’s my little monkey! I missed you so much!”
Lala hugged her tightly, not wanting to let go. “I thought you wouldn’t come today.”
“I’ll always come to see you,” Mom whispered, brushing Lala’s fur with her hand.
They sat under the big shade tree, where Mom unpacked the basket. Inside were Lala’s favorite treats: sweet sticky rice, fresh papaya slices, and a tiny coconut cake.
They shared snacks, told stories, and giggled like best friends. Mom even brought a new ribbon for Lala’s tail—pink with tiny stars.
“It’s beautiful!” Lala said, admiring it in the mirror.
“But not as beautiful as you,” Mom smiled.
Later, they laid on the grass, watching the clouds float by, Lala’s head resting on Mom’s lap.
When the sun began to set, it was time for Mom to go. Lala held her hand tightly.
“Don’t be sad,” Mom said, kissing her forehead. “I’ll be back soon.”
Lala waved as Mom walked down the path, heart full of love.
She ran back inside and held the ribbon close. “Best. Day. Ever.”
Because nothing feels better than when Mom comes to visit.
